Our company is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for monitoring general accounting practices and developing internal accounting controls. The successful candidate for this position will report directly to the Corporate Finance Director and play an instrumental role in the financial future of the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure there is a redundant process backup in place for every critical operation.
Create and document new and existing internal accounting policies to mitigate risk and provide effective controls efficiently and effectively.
Maintaining the general ledger and make sure revenue and expenses are recorded timely accurately in addition to other financial reports for use by management as required.
Compile all financial information and corresponding schedules to be provided by the client for audit and tax filings with accounting firm.
Understand and interpret executed contracts to ensure the financial impact is factored into accurate recording without impeding daily business activities while being GAAP compliant.
Work with sales, operations, purchasing and project managers for customer setup and coordinate necessary communication with 3rd party’s when relevant to ensure transactions are recorded timely and accurately per the contract.
Performs reconciliations of accounts monthly and resolves errors timely.
Maintenance of fixed assets (including purchases, disposals and transfers)
With assistance from external expertise as needed, comply with and meet deadlines of all local, state, and federal government licensing and tax filing reporting requirements while maintaining a thorough list of timelines for renewals
Review and Record payroll based on the correct locations/divisions. Assist HR Business Partner with Payroll Questions and Issues.
Monitors technology to determine ways to automate the accounting process without sacrificing accuracy and accountability.
Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with internal and external customers.
Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
Strong background in cost accounting with ability to create inventory accounting and project cost accounting processes and reports.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with internal and external teams up to the Executive level.
Understanding of GAAP.
Strong systems experience with knowledge, aptitude and desire to collaborate, design, document and implement processes.
Active team member to be part of the cross-functional team that will drive the selection and implementation of a new integrated solution.
Significant experience working with key leaders in a high pressure, fast paced environment
Solid planning, understanding, and administration skills
High energy; demonstrates urgency and fast pace with ability to multi-task
Strong ability to understand and make recommendations of accounting processes and reporting that are simple and efficient for a wide range of client and project/service types.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; 6-8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in entrepreneurial start-up environment a plus.
