JOB SUMMARY – JouleSmart Project Manager I
The purpose of this position is to manage energy efficiency and smart building implementations for clients, with direct accountability for project delivery. Company’s clients are medium and small commercial facilities and may include public buildings. This position will report to the local Senior Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages all facets of field project management for individual and portfolio energy efficiency and smart building projects including site surveys, planning, scheduling, permitting, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
Leads project delivery resources/team providing project guidance and direction to achieve project installation goals in coordination with sales, engineering, and program management.
Facilitates project meetings. Ensure project data integrity and documentation is accurate, timely, and coordinated. Recruit and manage the work of local HVAC and electrical contractors.
Tracks progress of each project against goals, objectives, approved budgets, approved timelines. Reports status and variances. Creates action plans to meet objectives, budget and schedule.
Implements change management to assess change requests, make recommendations, secure client approvals, and issue change orders. Assesses change requests to determine impacts to scope, budget, and schedule.
Demonstrates ability to identify project risks, develop risk mitigation and contingency plans, and implement action plans to reduce or eliminate project risks.
The position requires frequent regional travel to Company’s project locations and local contractor offices.
Willingness to travel to:
- Project locations under Project Manager’s regional responsibility (usually within a 90-mile radius);
- JouleSmart’s corporate headquarters in Oregon for training, meetings, and corporate events (quarterly or less).

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (BS/BEng/BArch) in a technical area of study preferred. Minimum 5+ years of related experience and/or training (electrical, cable/satellite technician, HVAC, low voltage, or general contracting) and 2+ years of project management experience.
Understanding of local contracting workforce and licensing requirements.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
PMP and/or LEED AP a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.
Ability to comprehend and analyze floor plans, bill of materials, and permitting plan sets. Ability to solve problems related to installation complexities.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Practical knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce.com. Ability to read and understand technical drawings, such are architectural and electrical plans. Troubleshooting network communication issues.
