Chief Operating Officer, JouleSmart
Patrick is responsible for technology development and operational deployment of the JouleSmart solution for small- and mid-sized commercial buildings. Prior to joining JouleSmart, Patrick was co-founder and CEO of NorthWrite, a cloud-based energy information management services company that was one of the few to begin offering a “Software-as-a-Service” solution for the facility management market in the early 2000s. As NorthWrite’s CEO, he led the company’s evolution through the rapidly developing energy, wireless, mobile, and cloud-computing business environments before the company was acquired by Joule Capital in early 2017. Before founding NorthWrite, Patrick spent ten years at Honeywell International as VP of Technology and Development, and also worked at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds several patents and has authored and published 50+ articles on software, HVAC systems and controls, and building operations, and management. He earned Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in mechanical and industrial engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
